Cheng Design's first house is located in the apple orchards and rolling hills of Sebastopol, California. Inspired by neighboring barns and Japanese tradition, this evocative hybrid marries simple shapes and durable materials to the sleek sophistication of hand-troweled plaster walls, polished concrete floors in ultramarine and cypress green and wood-clad structural steel poles tapered en pointe and fitted with plum-colored slippers.
